Holland Tournament 2010

21st May - 25th May

at the Zuidvogels club Huizen (near Amsterdam)

Croydon Pirates as they have for the last 16 years have been invited to participate in the annual Whitsun Bank holiday tournament hosted by the Dutch club Zuidvogels.

Pirates have had great success in this tournament winning it 4 times and been in the final on several occasions, last year the Pirates finished 2nd with the host side Zuidvogels winning for the 2nd straight year.

The Zuidvogels club is an excellent well run organization, having several softball fields and a showpiece main baseball diamond, all of which are fully enclosed with dugouts, stands and bleaches. Add to this the warm welcome that our club always enjoys while participation in the tournament, it is a weekend not to miss.

Along with the baseball there should be a chance for players to take part in a fast pitch softball game.

Amsterdam is about 20km from where our hotel (Hotel Belle-Vue) is and the bus stop is right outside, so those that fancy a trip into the city can do so with ease.

There will be a trip to the largest baseball warehouse in Holland called COVEE, where you can purchase more or less any piece of baseball equipment you require. A trip to FLORREL another baseball outlet is another chance to buy some baseball equipment.

Pirates have for the last 11 years stayed at the Hotel Belle-Vue in Blaricum close to Huizen, where we have been made most welcome in this exclusive suburb, near to one of the best ice-cream shops in Holland

Alternativily you may camp at the Zuidvogels ground, no charge!

Other interesting activities, beside eating and drinking are....

A visit to watch a Dutch Major league baseball game

Another bit of relaxation could be a trip to the local bowling alley for a few games, beware of the glass walls!!

Travel to Holland is via air and usually hiring cars or a minibus to get around
